Passmedicine for PLAB 1: how to decide if it fits your revision

What to look for in Passmedicine’s PLAB 1 material, how to combine it with free UK guidance and how to avoid over-relying on one resource.

5 minute read · reviewed 24 October 2026

Passmedicine is a UK online question service used by medical students and doctors, and it offers material for PLAB 1. This site is not affiliated with Passmedicine. Always check the provider’s own page for what is currently included and for pricing.

A quick way to evaluate it

  • Open a sample or trial block and check that the explanations cite UK guidance such as NICE.
  • Look at whether you can track performance by topic and repeat missed questions.
  • Check whether the PLAB section is separate from material written for other UK exams, and whether the style matches the single-best-answer format of PLAB 1.
  • Read the subscription terms: length, renewal and refunds.

Combine, do not replace

A question bank is only one layer. Build your revision in three layers: a map (the GMC content map), sources (NICE CKS and the BNF) and practice (a bank plus SBA books).

If you are choosing between providers, see PLABable and the general question banks and courses page.
