Almost everything with the GMC happens in GMC Online. Create your account early: you book PLAB through it and you apply for registration through it.

  1. Create your GMC Online account and confirm your name exactly as it appears on your passport.
  2. Start EPIC verification of your medical degree and (if relevant) your internship.
  3. Book and pass an English-language test.
  4. Book PLAB 1 (check dates and centres).
  5. After PLAB 1, book PLAB 2 within the two-year window.
  6. Apply for registration with a licence to practise.
  • Keep scans of your passport, degree, internship certificate and any name-change documents.
  • Use consistent spelling of your name on every document.
  • Certificates of good standing from every country where you worked may be required.

Documents to gather

  • Passport (or other accepted photo ID), with a name that matches every other document.
  • Primary medical qualification certificate and transcripts.
  • Internship or house-job completion certificate, where your country requires it.
  • English-language certificate (IELTS or OET) or evidence for an exemption.
  • Certificates of good standing or registration from every regulator you have been registered with in the past few years.
  • Any evidence of name change (marriage certificate, deed poll).
